Pettibone Project

While the big construction equipment has been gone for a year from Pettibone, major costs are still being expended to bring it to closure. At tonight’s council meeting a payment of $1.4M will be approved that includes hold back funds and disputed billing items that were resolved in arbitration. This years budget includes $100K for restoration and $40K for a retaining wall.

Phase 1 Restoration

on the south side of BB Rd, east of Sharondale started today and will work east to Huntington, possibly Liberty, in order to meet the 2 year land rental. The county excludes utility work from that 2 year rental. They are adding top soil and grass seed, but expect to retouch next spring. If weather becomes a problem they will mulch to protect from erosion. Residents may want to remove debris and rocks so they aren’t covered over.

In preparation for the final course, the contractors are scraping the small bridge away from the drive aprons so now there will be a 3” bump as you drive in for the next few weeks until the final course is applied. Once again no advance notice was mentioned in the weekly status report or county twitter account.

in Phase 1 at Sharondale. Road completely blocked at times. Watch for workers waving people through red lights or oncoming traffic during green lights.

Huntington to Liberty, temp road is being removed, no advance notice given. Phase 1 to be complete Nov 1st. Phase 2 south side likely to winter over as Phase 1 West did.

South lane complete to Liberty, curb complete to Windy Hill, under drain complete to county line, ready for curbs. Liberty & BB Rd intersection done. When temp road removed, it would be possible to open BB Rd to Liberty. South side concrete drives done to Huntington, awaiting grass. Asphalt drives in Phase 1 West still waiting for final coat.

Finally Phase 1

west of Huntington, south side, had their drives poured, they started before 7am and were still working after 9pm. ODOT has to ask permission for long work hours, BB Rd doesn’t. We received notice that our drives would be done over 3 months ago, and would be out of them for a day. They started a week ago, we should be able to use our drives Wed, 9 days later. Asphalt drives in Phase 1 are still waiting for the leftovers of Liberty Rd paving. Hopefully we’ll see grass seed soon, no word on when mail boxes will be put back. As for Phase 2 south side, it will be amazing if those drives are done this year.

Road blockages

Drives on south side just west of Huntington are finally being done causing BB Rd to be blocked at various times until Sat. the 27th. Liberty south of BB Rd continues to be closed to northbound traffic, but often is blocked southbound too during construction hours. NO project status report in last two weeks. At council - a resident complained of speeding cut through traffic in the Woodbury subdivision and councilman Richmond read a letter from a resident saying how well the project was going. Asphalt drives in Phase 1 remain incomplete.

Excavation for southbound lane past the high tension power lines, divided road way to Dorset, stabilization of road base and under curb drainage past Liberty. Sidewalks and aprons on north side to Windy Hill. Utility movement near Huntington complete (2 yrs late), restoration of south side to Huntington to start soon advising to Stanek at Safety mtg. Liberty down to one lane south of BB Rd and often delayed during construction hours.

To protect concrete from asphalt tack coat to be applied to driveways today (?) in Phase 1 West (of Huntington). Locating holes being dug for new electric underground lines being moved closer to homes and deeper (final connection approved).

Temp Road

Removing one lane of the temp road continues east of Liberty. Divided roadway from Huntington to Cloverly. Phase 1A West all grass done north side. Asphalt still needed both sides, concrete needed south side near Huntington.
Concrete on north side nearing Windy Hill. Work active at 8 pm Tue.
Next week Liberty will be down to one lane southbound, south of BB Rd. Official detour for northbound Liberty is Aurora west to SOM. Unofficially you could cut through the Huntington Woods subdivision.

Blacktop finally arrives

to asphalt drives that have been waiting months. Liberty north was paved yesterday and drives in Phase 1 West are being done today. Scheduled traffic change to remove one lane of temp road between Huntington and Liberty did not occur until the 21st.

Asphalt paving of drives east of Huntington expected soon. Homes with underground utilities on the south side are being delayed until AT&T and First Energy run new lowered trunk lines.

New lane striped

The new north side pavement east of Huntington has been stripped. At some point (soon) WB traffic will use the new pavement while half the temp road is removed, making a divided highway, EB on the temp road, WB on the new road while the rest of the road is rebuilt in the middle.

Detour Extended

At Public Works it was announced that Culvert 10 (between Creekside and Windy Hill) would start after Culvert 13 and would use the same detour. While the official detour will be to Chagrin Falls and back, most people will find driving through Windy Hill and Creekside will be much quicker. I’m sure that these people who voted for sidewalks on BB Rd won’t mind sharing their road with BB Rd.

Another Accident

Last week another accident occurred near Huntington when a car backing out of a driveway fell over the temp road 2 ft drop and needed Police assistance to be pulled out.

Huntington Intersection

Last night’s Public Works Committee stated that the project WILL NOT make it just past Huntington as planned and will stop just short of (west of) the intersection. The 36” water line conflict caused this change. Approvals for this conflict have been made and materials ordered, hopefully this culvert can be completed soon.

Monday - paved from City Hall to just short of Sharondale.

Tuesday - workers rained out.

Wednesday - paved Sharondale and then down to near Huntington. At times Sharondale was completely blocked, its earthen ramp is much steeper.
